The Vampire’s Wife Launches Charm Bracelets Inspired by Nick Cave’s Lyrics | British Vogue

When Nick Cave came up with the name of his wife Susie’s fashion brand, The Vampire’s Wife, it was derived from an unfinished novel he was writing. “He tastes amazing and I trust him 100%, and he was right, it works,” she told British Vogue. “He’s getting a little shy about his involvement, though. Today, thanks to a range of charm bracelets inspired by Nick’s songs, the collaborative intimacy of their 21-year-old relationship has become tangible: Susie’s favorite song among Nick’s songs translated into 18-karat coins imprints of meaning and dotted with precious jewels. “Susie and I have been throwing around the idea of a charm bracelet based on my songs for years,” says Nick. “I did a drawing of the separate charms on the back of a notebook, but it was one of those ideas that never really gets off the page.” It was years after these initial discussions, when the couple met jewelry designer Annoushka, that they revived the idea. “Annoushka has expressed great interest in this,” he continues. “We had no idea that she would turn this snippet of idea into something so complex and beautiful.” The resulting collection is precisely what we want now: a combination of Susie’s grace with Nick’s subversion and Annouschka’s craftsmanship. Here, to celebrate their launch, Susie reveals the personal meaning behind each of the pieces.
