Stylist Marina Didovich explains why she never says never when it comes to fashion

What’s at the top of your wish list? A “Panthère de Cartier” watch in gold with the triple turn bracelet.

What is your favorite perfume ? I don’t wear a lot of perfume but when I do it’s Maison Francis “Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge” or Sśaint “Modus Vivendi”.

Must-have jewelry? A gold Bulgari “Serpenti” ring and a Cartier “Juste un Clou” ring. Also, a Cartier “Love” bracelet that Steven [Marina’s husband, photographer Steven Chee] bought me in Paris.

What is your fashion inspiration? Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. I like the evolution, their history; they have radically changed direction to become icons in the fashion community.

Do you remember a favorite outfit from your childhood? My heritage is Croatian and my baba [grandmother] made a lot of my clothes, beautiful dresses with smocking and embroidery.

And your worst fashion mistake? I have curly hair and about seven years ago I cut it very short, like a bowl. It was a cool thing to do back then, but I look at the pictures now and cringe.

Do you remember your first fashion moment? Growing up, my little sister was obsessed with Italian vogue. We lived in West Auckland and that just wasn’t a thing. I laughed at her and we argued. Then one day I took a copy and just received it; the magazine completely opened my eyes to the world of fashion.

Is there anything you would never wear? No, I’ve said “never” in the past, then five years later I’m wearing it. Like the little Miu Miu tennis skirts of the 90s; I never thought I would be in this mood again. Next minute…

What current trend do you like? Anything clean and minimal that I will wear tirelessly. I no longer put my card down to buy something just for a cool Instagram photo or to wear to an event once.

What shoes do you wear most often? In winter, Totême “The Wide Shaft” boots in black crocodile skin, Chanel hiking boots and Gia Borghini x Pernille Teisbaek shearling sandals. During the warmer months, I’ll wear a pair of black The Row sandals that I’ve had for years and crush my Jil Sander sandals.

What do you wear on a typical work day? Jeans, bodysuit, blazer and flats.

And your favorite off-duty Sunday look? I live in Bondi, so it’s going to be sportswear.
