Beaded bracelets

Ryan Reynolds wearing beaded bracelets made by his children

Ryan Reynolds accessorized with sentimental jewelry for his appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on August 9. The ‘Deadpool’ actor proudly wore beaded bracelets made by his daughters as he and guest host Rob McElhenney chatted about Wrexham AFC, the Welsh football team they own together. He’s amassed several handmade creations with his Apple Watch: one with shimmering green and clear beads that spell “DADDY,” one with smiling pink beads, and one with a rainbow assortment. The colorful pile popped against his outfit, consisting of otherwise muted tones in the form of a gray suit, white shirt, and black tie.

Reynolds has been spotted wearing the same bracelets at several other outings this summer, including Wrexham football matches, a Cannes Lions event and the premiere of Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well: The Short Film.” As well as being a fun way to keep kids close in the midst of a busy schedule, Reynolds’ accessories also play into the “kidcore” fashion aesthetic, characterized by bright colors, fun prints and nostalgic jewelry.

Reynolds shares three daughters with wife Blake Lively – James, 7, Inez, 5, and Betty, 2 – and the beaded bracelets are likely the result of an afternoon DIY project at home. Maybe they made one for Lively that reads “MOM” to match?

Since Reynolds’ wardrobe consists mostly of neutrals (think: navy jackets, gray pinstripe suits and white T-shirts), the pop of color in her bracelets is a welcome style change for the star, whether in service or not.
