Paris Fashion Week (PFW) Fall/Winter 2022, held from February 28 to March 8, showcased new haute couture trends and inspirations to incorporate into our wardrobes. Even though such events in the fashion industry represent a glamorous escape from the everyday, this season of PFW has been a solemn affair marked by the devastating war between Russia and Ukraine, which has been highlighted by some designers like Balenciaga. to show solidarity with war-stricken Ukrainians. .
In terms of new arrivals, Paris Fashion Week presented an array of bag, shoe and jewelry trends, including ravishing thigh-high boots, platform shoes, mules and small heels, from luxury brands such as Vivienne Westwood, Louis Vuitton, Isabel Marant, Christian Dior and Loewe. And we loved them.
We’ve also spotted whimsical jewelry trends such as Off-White’s cocked baseball cap, ’80s-inspired chunky crystal jewelry, and trendy bangles from Saint Laurent. To match the futuristic silhouettes and gracefully layered garments, Paris Fashion Week also gave us vibrant and quirky leather it-bags from designers like Valentino to swoon us over.
Here are some of the accessories from Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2022 that stood out
Loewe A/W 2022: avant-garde shoes
Loewe’s creative director for this year’s Paris Fashion Week decided to take the flamboyant and provocative route by putting together vibrant pink hues and unconventional materials like shearling, latex and 3D-printed fibers. These materials were paired with surreal silver heels with giant arches molding the ankle in silver foil.
The skin-tight latex silhouettes of the garments were also paired with obscure, ball-shaped leather shoes, wrapping the feet and ankles, and other beaded embellishments.
Valentino: bright colors and trendy it-bags
Born from the creative vision of director Pierpaolo Piccioli, the Italian fashion house draped the runway in hot pink and fuchsia hues – Pantone’s official fall color named Pink PP. Valentino’s “it” girl, Zendaya, was seen carrying a small leather bag to add to her monochromatic all-pink outfit.
Serving as a sort of blank canvas, the hero’s color palette was chosen to showcase the cutouts and tailoring of the outfits, with the models also showcasing the collection. It also featured all-black ensembles to contrast the pink beautifully.
Isabel Marant: Thigh high boots and sequins
Bold colors and shimmering fabrics were beautifully contrasted by subtle yet sultry leather thigh high boots. During Paris Fashion Week F/W 2022, Isabel Marant staged raw fabrics like nylon and leather contrasted with the sparkle of sequins and super casual oversized outerwear.
The collection features patterns inspired by Persian rugs and colors like neon orange and pink to pay a subtle homage to 2000s fashion. It was paired with color-matched thigh-high boots.
Yves Saint Laurent: Layered bracelets, daring bracelets and rings
Visualized by creative director Anthony Vaccarello, Saint Laurent has been seen to step up the accessories game a few notches this year. The French fashion house’s fall-winter 2022 collection collection featured big statement jewelry like layered bangles, bracelets and cocktail rings in silver, black and chocolate brown, dotted with a bit of emerald green.
Rounding out the androgenic wardrobe with art deco-inspired style, giant black bangles pair beautifully with square-shouldered coats, sultry delicate dresses and tuxedo suits.
Christian Dior: futuristic and technological accessories and shoes
Creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri blended futuristic aesthetics with graceful, traditional designs and paired them with modern accessories like white sunglasses, necklaces and rings. They highlighted the delicate design of ornate elements such as gold-finish metal, pearls and lace. Dior’s typically feminine aesthetic is revitalized through technology and alternative materials.
Made in collaboration with D-Air Lab, a technology-focused research and innovation house, the contemporary collection also featured colorful elbow-length gloves, emblazoned with the phrase “The Next Era” to signify the marriage of technology cutting edge and fashion. We saw a state-of-the-art fusion of things like molded airbags and glow-in-the-dark neon straps on the fashion show.
A beautiful amalgamation of sport and elegance, the voluminous and layered pleats are complemented by the reinterpreted versions of the black patent pumps, which were originally designed for Roger Vivier’s house. These pumps are paired with mid-calf socks and technical straps, again emblazoned with the words “The Next Era”. The Zip Bowling Bag comes in matching beige tones to further enhance the set.
Off-White: Over-the-top hats and headwear
One of the highlights of fashion month was streetwear fashion house Off-White’s show, which took place on the opening night of Paris Fashion Week. Thanks to the presence of celebrities and models such as Naomi Campbell, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Cindy Crawford and her daughter, Kaia Gerber, the brand etched the catwalk with its avant-garde hats, caps and headwear accompanied by dresses from couture and oversized crystal jewelry.
Off-White paid tribute to its legendary and late founder, Virgil Abloh, who tragically passed away last year, through its show called “Spaceship Earth: an Imaginary Experience”. The brand showcased the latest and latest ready-to-wear collection that the beloved designer had produced for the fashion house.
Acne Studios: Distressed ankle boots in fabric and crystals
During Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2022, luxury fashion house Acne Studios strayed from the beaten path, reinventing the term “refined” in the world of haute couture. The runway featured models wearing distressed and flawed boots rendered in knits and sporting crystal-embellished holes.
Redefining the concept of perfection, the collection proudly featured distressed and partially repaired fabrics with exposed seams and hook and eye closures. We’ve also seen denim handbags, relaxed, oversized silhouettes paired with satin-jacquard padded house slippers and above-the-knee biker boots and pumps.
Stella McCartney: wearable abstract art
In her F/W 2022 collection, Stella McCartney presents her maximalist abstract designs, inspired by and dedicated to the work and life of iconic American artist Frank Stella. We have seen quirky shapes, colors and shapes in his abstract and vibrant paintings and sculptures.
The garments are complemented by colour-coordinated boots and handbags, with intricately woven straps. The collection features a fun, multi-colored palette taken from Frank Stella’s artwork and fused with McCartney’s makeup-inspired hues and tones.
