AMBUSH Images of the spring/summer 2023 pre-collection

For AMBUSH’s spring/summer 2023 pre-collection, artistic director Yoon Ahn was inspired by the city of Tokyo, where she has lived for 20 years.

Incorporating the Japanese capital’s love of fashion and music, the designer has translated Shibuya’s vibrant energy into her latest designs. Described as a “new fashion mixtape,” the SS23 range is what Ahn wants to see on the streets of his neighborhood, including tracksuits, nylon pants, oversized shirts and more. Primarily designed to be unisex, the collection is highlighted with workwear-inspired pieces including dolman sleeve shirts, as well as denim offered in hybrid sportswear styles. The AMBUSH kimono jacket, revisited in denim, stands out from the range.

Elsewhere, baggy silhouettes can be found in bowling alleys and long-sleeved shirts featuring nostalgic graphics referencing Shibuya’s rave and house culture. These tops are paired with cargo pants and puffer jackets, contrasting with formal ensembles of tailored jackets and pants.

In accessories, Ahn has created ball chain chokers, as well as heart-shaped padlocks, multi-colored pills and shaded mushrooms offered as necklaces, rings and bracelets. The theme continues on the bags, appearing in the shape of a heart. The collection is complete with unisex footwear – from biker boots and wellies to slides and hiking boots.
